Ayam Goreng Mamak

Ayam Goreng Mamak
Recipe source - Facebook.

Assalamualaikum guys,

Let me share my first successful recipe, by successful I mean the recipe was good.

I saw this post, if I'm not mistaken either on Tuesday or Wednesday. So I bought the chicken on Thursday because I'm planning to have it for iftar on Friday.

Well, I was planning when to buy it and all because this recipe need at least one night to marinate the chicken. (what I did).

So let me start with the ingredient as mention in the post:
  1. 1 whole chicken ( I used 7 chichen legs - thigh and drumstick)
  2. 6 table spoon of corn flour
  3. 6 table spoon of  rice flour
  4. 3 stalk of curry leaves
  5. 5 stalk of dried chili ( I did not use this)
  6. 2 table spoon of curry powder
  7. 1 table spoon of chili powder
  8. 1 tea spoon of turmeric powder ( I added myself)
  9. salt
  10. 1 egg
    Ingredients to blend it with:
    1. 6 cloves of garlic
    2. 1 inch of ginger
    How I did it:
I first cut away all the access fats, the skin is on and I cut the chicken leg into three parts for easy frying and clean all the chicken with water and some lime.

I then strained the chicken and put is to aside.

I then blend the 'blend ingredient' and put it into a container with a cover.
I added curry, chili and turmeric powder, curry leaves and salt in the same container.
I mixed it well and add on all the chicken.
I first stir it well with a spoon then I put the lid on and just give it a little shake just to make sure all the chicken are marinated well and all the chicken are all covered.
I put it in the fridge and leave it over night.
Note that I did this after Terawih on Thursday.

The next day, Friday around 6.00pm, I started prepping all the dry ingredients.

I add on both of the corn and rice flour into a big bowl and added the egg.
I then I mixed well the dry ingredient with the marinated chicken until all the chicken are all covered nicely.
Note that, if the chicken is not fully covered by the flour add both flour in a same portion into the mix.
Add a little more or a little less salt depends on how much chicken you are using.

I put a side for awhile, then around 6.30pm I started frying them.

Fried them as usual like how you would fried a normal fried chicken.

When it's done, drained the access oil and serve it with love.

Mine was kindda dark but not so when you are not that particular since I am I think it is.
At first I was using a big flame and I forgot to turn the flame down.
But all good, it taste delicious, my family enjoyed it, my husband loves it ( I think) didn't had a chance to ask him how it really was because I only packed for him did not even see his reaction. He only reply me on whatsapp saying the chicken was good.

ps: make sure you see your husband's reaction every time you cook for him. Best feeling ever just to see him eating what I cooked for him.

Try it at home, it is so simple and I promise you, it is almost the same like the chicken at mamak.
By almost I mean like 95% close to mamak chicken.

Good luck and do share it with me if you try it.

    Online Food Test Series.

    Assalakualaikum guys,

As the headline mentioned, I had an idea to make a series on online recipe and put it to a test.

Recently, I tried making some dishes based on recipe that was shared a lot on facebook. Yup I mean a lot, all over my wall it's all food recipe. Yes people I get it you are hungry, we all are fasting too. teehee.
It is so tempting so, I tried making it myself. Honestly some recipe can be used some just does not work.

From here it hits me with this idea to put the recipe to test.

I tried a few recipe already but back then this idea was not in my head yet.

I'll post a separate blog talking about the recipe I did successfully and some not so much.

I apologies in advance for the lack of photos showing step by step how I did it but I try to explain in details in sha Allah.

ps: If you have any good or viral food recipe that you come across on facebook or want me to try to do it before you try it, let me know and I'll try to do it and give a review or feedback about the recipe whether its a legit good one or not.

Hopefully, you all have a wonderful Ramadhan.

    Restoran Sri Nirwana Maju

    May 10, 2016.

    Assalamualaikum guys,

Another late post, last month we went here for the second time.
Okay let me start with out first experience here.
We came during late lunch hour and as soon as we got out of the car we saw the queue was quite long keep in mind we were starving. At the back of my mind this is going to be long and I was considering to eat somewhere else. but because we were so hungry we both went there straight away.
Oh yeah, my husband loves his curry and since we were few steps away he wouldn't want to miss it.
Plus it's kindda his birthday treat so yeah.

Thankfully, as we arrived to the shop, the lady straight away called both of us, oh she understand us deeply mangg. It's like she knows its my husband's birthday. teehee.
(actually, the only table that was available for two..lucky us!)

Well obviously hubs went straight for it.

We ordered additional fried chicken and fried squid to go with the set.
Obviously hubs rice is twice or even trice of my portion.

I'm not sure what the red thingy was, but it was good. Oh just googled it and its luffa - 'petola'.
Hands down guys, the curry was soo on point and the flavor is so rich soo soo rich and thick.
The rice is just perfect to go with the rice. Oh yeah it was delicious kindda spicy that makes you want more.
I don't eat spicy food so it was spicy for me, but hubs was all in about spicy food so he obviously loved it.

But for me I know my chicken and the fried chicken was kindda dry and their style I guess they over fried it which makes the meat shrink if that make sense. Less meat ain't the pleasure. But if you take the breast its quite moist and tender which suits their cooking style but not for drumstick.

Standard veggies that you can find in all mamak stalls, not a fan but it was normal nothing special about it.

The fried squid was also good. So delicious.

Second time around we expect so much but when we had our food things was just off.
We were quite disappointed how the food was not consistent and not taste as good as before.

Other than that, our personal thought, it was quite pricy and probably would just come here once in like two or three months or just even when he is craving for it.

Kopi Siam 129, Taman Bukit Teratai.

    May 9, 2016.
    Assalamualaikum guys,

Last month, we went out with two of our friends and went here for supper.
ps: we don't usually do this.

This was probably our second time here and we would definitely recommend this place for a good taste of roti john. Their idea to include cheese on a roti john makes roti john a whole new level of nyummy-ness.

My husband loves his cheese and hands down he loves this roti john too, as for myself, nope, not a fan.
Actually the first time I had this was when we had for take away and I find it a bit off and there was nothing special about it due to the fact I actually asked my husband to ordered the normal one. Second time here, I dared myself to be adventurous and give it a second chance and it was worth it.
The cheese was just enough that it doesn't make me feel all queasy.

Literally craving for it for the past two weeks and last week I did my own version of roti john with only roti gardenia thankfully hubs loved it.

As you can see I don't eat chili and tomato sauce so I had mine only with mayonnaise, because my husband understands me and being such wonderful man as he is, he shared mine and do not mind it without any sauces yet it is still delicious and we still enjoyed  our roti john. Can't say no more, you must try it yourself.

Personally the roti john itself I would rate it a solid 8/10.

Just to share with you this is their menu :)
Still haven't tried their burger and meatball though.

We also shared a big cup of ice coca. Any where I go if there is an ice chocolate and I feel like having it, I would definitely try it out and this one is worth your RM3.50.
I also find that some other big cup stalls, their prices are ridiculously pricy.

Lets admit we all know this kindda drinks, its only like roughly 40% the drink itself and 60% is ice.
Personally if its over price I wouldn't try it out. Just knowing that there are some other places with much more reasonable price and taste good.

    This one I recommend. I give it a 7.5/10.
The cocoa is quite rich and you will definitely taste the chocolatey taste.

Here is the location of the stall or you can just waze 'kopi siam 129'

Location: Kopi Siam 129 - Foodcourt Taman Bukit Teratai Jalan 1/2. Ampang.

I hope you enjoy the roti john as how we did.
